A Chevy truck, heading into Tennessee, crossed the center line striking a Honda Civic around 8:30pm and then burst into flames an eyewitness tells WataugaRoads.com. The truck was driven by Michael Pinkham, 64, of Ridgeway, South Carolina. Nicholas Blackwell, 25, his wife Molly, 24, and 11 month old daughter Harper were in the Civic. The Blackwell's lived in Mountain City, TN. The truck was traveling in excess of 90mph at the time of impact, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident resulted in the road being closed in that section, and traffic being detoured on both sides of the state line for several hours. Zionville Fire Department cleared the scene at 1:02am Sunday morning. The investigation into the crash continues.
