WataugaRoads.com Introduces New Website Layout

WataugaRoads.com is proud to announce a new look to the site.  Debuting officially to the public on September 20, 2011, the site became the first to be centered around weather, road conditions and motorist related items for the High Country.

The process for the new design had been in the works for many months, and was rolled out on Friday June 20, 2015. “I'm excited about the new look and the new features.” says Kenneth Reece, owner and operator of WataugaRoads.com. “I hope the changes will improve the viewer experience, and showcase all the content on the site in a better fashion.” Reece adds.

Among the new features is the ALERTS tab, just below the main menu. The scrolling bar will alert viewers to any watches and warnings issued by the National Weather Service, and possible road closings due to accidents or other factors.

The weather radar page now shows each of the 10 radars in more expanded detail. The live webcam page also broadens the view of each of the four camera feeds, allowing a more detailed look at Downtown Boone, Highway 105 in Foscoe, 184 in Banner Elk and Downtown Blowing Rock.

The new design also allows the great area businesses that advertise to be seen more often and in better detail. Without their support, the site would not be possible. Several companies have been with the site since day one, or nearly day one. “I look forward to the continued relationship with all of the current advertisers, and working with new advertisers to expand the reach of their business.” Reece concludes.

The site has also undergone some improvements for viewers on mobile devices. As with the desktop version, work will continue over the coming days and weeks to improve the experience both on mobile and through the WataugaRoads and Weather app on iPhone/iPad and Android devices.

In the short term some viewers may notice some layout issues such as fuzzy images in some articles, or possibly some alignment issues. Viewers are welcome to send in an email from the contact page or via the social media outlets to make the items known so they can be addressed. Since beginning in 2011 WataugaRoads.com is closing in on the 2 million page views milestone, and is anticipated to reach that mark this year.
