8:55pm – getting several reports of flooding on Aho Road about a mile from the Blue Ridge side. heavy debris, rocks and limbs.

9pm – also getting reports of flooding on Bamboo Road near the airport and Boone Mall parking lot in early stages of flooding.

* UNTIL 330 AM EDT MONDAY

* AT 923 PM EDT…DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN THAT WILL CAUSE
SMALL STREAM FLOODING IN THE ADVISORY AREA. ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN
HAS FALLEN ACROSS PARTS OF THE AREA…WITH A FEW SPOTS A BIT OVER
TWO INCHES.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…
BOONE…
GALAX…
SPARTA…
JEFFERSON…
AND WEST JEFFERSON.

THIS INCLUDES APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY.

9:37pm – Deerfield Road at the Moose Lodge and the bridge at Casey Lane is underwater per scanner.

10:26pm – Bamboo Road from Candy Lane to Kellwood Drive is flooded. Boone Police have those areas blocked off.

10:44pm – Tree down blocking Incline Drive in in Vilas. Fire Department on the scene to clear.

11pm – Deerfield Rd. is now closed between State Farm and Blairmont Drive according to Boone PD.

* URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD WARNING FOR…
WATAUGA COUNTY IN NORTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA…

* UNTIL 830 AM EDT MONDAY

* AT 1132 PM EDT…DOPPLER RADAR AND AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES INDICATED
THAT PROLONGED HEAVY RAIN WAS FALLING OVER THE AREA. THIS HEAVY
RAIN WILL CAUSE FLOODING. 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN SINCE
3PM SUNDAY.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…
BOONE…
BLOWING ROCK…
SUGAR GROVE…
FOSCOE…
AND TODD.

THIS INCLUDES APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE
WARNED AREA.

FLOODING IS IMMINENT ALONG THE MIDDLE AND SOUTH FORK OF THE NEW
RIVER AND ON THE WATAUGA RIVER. HODGES CREEK…BOONE CREEK AND
DEERFIELD CREEK WILL ALSO FLOOD.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS…MAKE THE SMART CHOICE. TURN AROUND…DONT DROWN.
