A possible once in a lifetime opportunity to see a big part of American automotive history will take place in Boone this weekend.
The Model T Ford Club International will make the High Country their home starting on Sunday. Over 240 cars from the United States, England and Sweden will travel and take in the sights according to Steve Bumgarner, the executive director and tour chairman.
This will be the 58th ride for the club but the first one to travel to the High Country according to Bumgarner in a phone interview with WataugaRoads.com.
In planning for the event, which took a year and a half, Bumgarner met with officials from NCDOT, Town of Boone, and Blue Ridge Parkway and he added that each agency was great to work with and was very helpful in making this a reality for the Model T Club and the area. He estimates that the event will bring about one million dollars to the High Country.

Because of the show King Street from Appalachian Street to Depot Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 11am to 4pm. Boone Police reminds motorists that all vehicles parked between these points will need to be moved prior to 10:00am Sunday morning. Vehicles parked on King Street between Appalachian and Depot Streets after 10am are subject to being towed.
On Monday the club will travel to West Jefferson on highway 194 then to 3 Top, along highway 88 and 194.
Tuesday they will make their way to Grandfather Mountain, Linville and the Mast Store in Valle Crucis.
Wednesday they are off to Wilkesboro and along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Thursday the cars will travel to Linville Caverns along 221 and the Parkway.
Then Friday they will be in Boone and Blowing Rock mostly.
