Rain has delayed plans by the N.C. Department of Transportation to temporarily close a section of U.S. 321 in Lenoir.
The work, originally scheduled for tonight, will now take place starting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 20, weather permitting. Crews will block the road from Nuway Circle to Seehorn Street while they replace a deteriorated pipe. It is scheduled to reopen at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21.
A marked detour will direct drivers onto Creekway Drive and U.S. 64/N.C. 18 to return to U.S. 321.
