Portion Of Blowing Rock Road Shut Down Due To Accident On Monday, Police Investigation On Going

On November 30, 2015, at approximately 6:15 PM, Boone Police responded to a motor vehicle collision with a pedestrian. A 2002 Honda Accord driven by Tyler Christian Devore, 18, of Statesville, struck a pedestrian, Harry Edward Noblett, 66, of Boone, in the 700 block of Blowing Rock Road. Mr. Devore was travelling south on Blowing Rock Road when Mr. Noblett entered the highway walking across the southbound lanes to the center turn lane before walking back into the southbound lanes. There was not a designated crosswalk at this location.

Mr. Devore was not injured. Mr. Noblett sustained serious injuries. Mr. Noblett was taken to Watuaga Medical Center before being transferred to Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem.

Alcohol nor speed appear to be a factor for Mr. Devore in the collision. Alcohol is suspected in regards to Mr. Noblett. The investigation is on-going.


6:24pm Monday – According to scanner dispatches, some lanes of travel on Blowing Rock Road are being shut down due to an accident. The accident, between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian, is at or near IHOP. Motorist should expect delays in that area. Boone Police, Boone Fire and EMS units are on the scene.

6:38pm – some lanes of travel are being detoured onto Highland Avenue.
