The North Carolina Department of Transportation is planning to close the northern portion of Main Street between the Chetola entrance and the traffic light at Highway 321 starting Tuesday, January 20, according to a press release from the Town of Blowing Rock. The closure is necessary for paving work in conjunction with the Highway 321 widening project.

Work is expected to begin Tuesday morning, January 20, and be completed by the end of the day Wednesday, January 21, with Main Street being reopened in time for Winterfest activities that begin Thursday, January 22.

The road closure area will be posted by NCDOT along with detour routes. Chetola and other businesses and homes in the area can be accessed by taking Sunset Drive up to Main Street. The portion of Main Street marked in red on the map below shows the area of the road closure.
