Governor Pat McCrory ordered all North Carolina and United States flags to be lowered immediately to half-staff on all state facilities until sunset on Tuesday, October 6. This flag lowering is in memorial of the victims of the violence which occurred on October 1, 2015 at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon.

“An unspeakable act of evil prematurely ended the lives of nine of our fellow countrymen and women in Oregon,” Governor Pat McCrory said. “My heart breaks for the victims’ families and friends and for this senseless loss of life. I urge all North Carolinians to join Ann and me in keeping the victims, the survivors and their families in our thoughts and prayers and may this tragedy remind us of the precious nature of every human life.”
