With the installment of the new “smart parking meters” in downtown Boone this week (March 23-27), there are also some other changes taking place regarding parking.
The validation program will continue until May 1, 2015, after May 1st exceeding time citations with validation stickers will no longer be accepted according to Virginia Falck with the Downtown Boone Development Association. The Association would like to encourage visitors to downtown Boone that are interested in staying all day to use the King St. parking lot and the Queen St. meters. The Depot St. parking lot will change from hourly to long-term, 1+ hour parking with the installation of the pay station within the next several weeks.
The Town of Boone will be installing directional signage to assist visitors in locating the long-term, 1+ hour parking options in downtown Boone. These directional signs will be installed in early April.
