Starting March 24 at 8am a portion of BrownWood Road will be closed as NCDOT crews work on a bridge near highway 421.
The Watauga NCDOT Bridge Maintenance Unit will repair steel I-beams and timber floor on the bridge which is located approximately 2.8 miles North of US 421.
That portion of the road will be blocked from 8am Monday March 24 through 5pm on Thursday March 27.
The detour route will be:
Take SR 1359 to US 421 South, Turn Left on to US 221 North (toward Jefferson), Turn Left on SR 1100 Cranberry Springs Road which turns to Liberty Grove Church Road, At intersection turn left on to SR 1359 (Brownwood Road).
NCDOT has placed message boards in the area to make motorist aware of work dates and detour route.
