Bodenheimer Drive to 105 Proposal Again

Last Updated on March 1, 2012 7:42 pm

The topic of a new road connecting Bodenheimer Drive to 105 is on the table again.

ASU has requested the new road again in hopes that NCDOT will study the possibility, according to the Watauga Democrat.

On February 23 the Boone Town Council passed a resolution supporting a NCDOT preliminary engineering design evaluating alternatives for the proposed road.

The feasibility option is all that is being looked at currently with no funding for the project involved currently. If it were to be approved NCDOT will appropriate $250,000 for the preliminary engineering design, the paper adds.

This not the first time the topic of the new road has come up. The topic was also brought up in 2007 after a completed feasibility study by ASU. At the time of that study Bodenheimer Drive would be extended to reach Homespun Hills Road and connect Poplar Grove Road to Homespun Hills (2007 Watauga Democrat article here).
