The nationally televised Thursday night football game times for Appalachian State have been announced, as parking and traffic related items are to be addressed.

The Sun Belt Conference and ESPN announced that ASU’s home games against Georgia Southern, which takes place on October 22nd, and Arkansas State, on November 5th, will kick off at 7:30pm at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Both games will air nationally on ESPNU.

Officials with ASU and the Town of Boone have been working to develop a plan to address parking and traffic related issues, both on campus and in Boone. With most previous games held on Saturday, and some occasional Friday night games, officials are addressing parking lot measures. More specifically in relation to clearing out those lots, which are normally occupied by staff and students during the weekday, for tailgating and game parking.

According to a press release from the university, “Appalachian State athletics and leaders from the University and Town of Boone have been working for several months to develop a plan to make the Thursday night games a success, with the goal of causing as little disruption to the University’s academic mission and inconvenience to area residents and thousands of visiting alumni and fans as possible. The plan is in its final stages of development and will be announced soon.”

The weeknight games will be the 3rd and 4th in Kidd Brewer Stadium history. The Mountaineers defeated Richmond 55-35, in front of 24,140 fans, in the NCAA Division I FCS national semifinals on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007. ASU also beat 3rd ranked Wofford 70-24, before a then stadium record crowd of 30,931, on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008. Both contests were televised nationally on ESPN2.
